MIDDLETON – Noel G. Gaudette, Jr., age 77, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
He was born on December 24th, 1936, in Dairyland, Wisconsin, the son of the late Noel Gideon, Sr. and Clara Elizabeth (Reinhardt) Gaudette. Noel was a 1954 graduate of High School in Yakima, Washington, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from St. Martin’s College in Olympia, Washington in 1958. In 1961, he earned a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. For 36 years (1961 to 1997), he was a Civil Engineer and Asphalt Quality Control Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Noel was united in marriage to Mary Ann Stark on June 26, 1965 (Deceased, 2006) at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Madison. In 2007, he wed a second time to Sharon Schwartz (Deceased 2009). He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Middleton for over 40 years. Noel enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, grilling and going for walks. He liked to watch sports and complete woodworking projects. Noel especially liked spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Stephen (Victoria) of Chicago; two daughters, Diane (William) Kelly and Kathleen (Gregory) Gebhard, all of Madison; two grandsons (Benjamin and Joshua), and four step-grandchildren (Brian, Laurie, Julian and Noah); two sisters, Lois Snyder and Clarabelle (Harold W.) Barksdale; a brother, Gary (Carol) Gaudette; close companion Ruth Trudel, and many other family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 7450 University Avenue, Middleton at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2014 with Monsignor Douglas Duschack presiding. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the Church.
