Nancy Kaye Hahn Selje, age 65, of Janesville, and formerly of Eau Claire, died on Saturday May 11, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Beloit, WI, on Jan. 20, 1948, the daughter of Selmer Hogan and Lillian Finley Patterson. She graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in 1967, and married Allen Hahn. On October 10, 1981, Nancy married Richard Selje in Eau Claire, WI on, and together they moved to Janesville in 2003 to live closer to their families.
She worked as a Foster Parent for ANU Family Services in Eau Claire and Janesville until her retirement on March 31, 2013. Nancy opened their home for over 150 foster children, going above and beyond by loving and nurturing with all her heart. Nancy was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Janesville, the Red Hatters Society (Classey Chassey), and the Intermediate Women.
Nancy touched so many lives by her warm endearing nature. She had a special ability for bringing people into her world and keeping them with her always. She was a devoted friend, which she showed through her fierce loyalty and genuine caring. She loved her family with deep devotion while continually reminding us of the incredible mother that she was.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Selje of Janesville; 3 sons: Brian (Earaina) Hahn of Janesville, Eric (Janine) Selje of Madison, and Bruce (Tracy) Hahn of Milton; 5 grandchildren: Jasmine Hahn, Benjamin and Alison Selje, and Sophie and Kai Sheridan; sister, Patricia Drea of Beloit; 2 brothers, Michael (Laurie) Melcher of Janesville and Gregg S. (Wanda) Hogan of Raleigh, NC; best friend, Patti Manning; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Finley Hogan Patterson; father, Selmer Hogan and stepmother, Marion; mother-in-law, Sara Ann Selje, and father-in-law, Raymond Selje.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Randy Timmerman officiating. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville.
