MADISON- Mary Suzanne (Denil) Anderson, age 80, entered peacefully into the next life surrounded with the love of her family on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.

She was born one of six on Sept. 6, 1936, to Joseph and Isabelle (Van Dreel) Denil of Allouez, Wis. Mary graduated high school from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay in 1954 and attended St. Norbert College where she met the love of her life and married D. Donne Anderson of De Pere. They moved to Long Branch, N.J. and then to Augusta, Ga., before settling in Madison in 1959 where they raised four daughters.

Growing up with five brothers, Mary learned to hold her own in every way and taught her daughters strength, independence, and the importance of an education, working hard and being with family and friends. As a family, time was spent camping, traveling, baking, and "playing" in the water for hours (boating, skiing, swimming, and clearing the shoreline).

Mary also enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, reading, square dancing and playing cards with Donne. She also was a Girl Scout leader and involved in 4-H. She regularly enjoyed having coffee with her friends.

Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, D. Donne Anderson; children, Kathi (Dave) Erickson, Carole (Jim) Mintz, Sue (Kenny) Schultz and Kim (Mark) Sponem; grandchildren, Cara, Amy (Daniel), Jason (Melinda), Ryan, Joe, Jami, Aspen, Mason and Ross; great-grandchildren, Anna and Charlotte; brothers, John (Carol) Denil, David (Donna) Denil and Peter Denil; sister-in-law, Catherine Denil; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Norbert Denil and Ralph Denil; and sister-in-law, Sharon Denil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST.DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding.
