MADISON-Mary Elizabeth Thierer, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 6, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Harold and Jerona (Washa) Manion. Mary attended West High School. She worked for American Family, East High School and Certigy. Mary enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint, and was best known for her homemade bread and sweet rolls.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Kohl, Chuck (Julie) Thierer, Cathy Pedracine and Craig Thierer; seven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Manion and Donald (JoAnn) Manion; her sister-in-law, Karen Manion; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin D. in 1986; and brother, Merle Manion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
