SUN PRAIRIE -Marlene Faye “Mick” Wilson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at her home in Sun Prairie surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 3, 1938, in Aurora,Ill., the daughter of the late Fabian and Marion (Leigh) Reichert. Marlene was initially united in marriage to Richard Enger. She was later united in marriage to Hiram “Buck” Wilson. She was employed in various administrative jobs, but was especially proud of her 6 years served as a detective for the City of Madison Police Department.
Her passion for flower and vegetable gardening gave her many hours of joy, along with giving to family and friends her canned fruits of labor. She was a wonderful grandmother who loved her grandkids. Marlene was a fiercely independent person who courageously fought her ovarian cancer with true grit and willfulness.
Marlene is survived by her children, Matthew Enger, Miles “Tony” (Dawn) Enger; four grandchildren, Matthew (daughter, Caydence), Nicole and Ty Enger, Michael (Catrin) Szyryj; seven stepchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and four brothers and their families. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 until 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, with a short service to follow. Interment is scheduled at a later date at Highland Memorial Gardens in Cottage Grove.
