MOUNT HOREB/ MADISON – Marilyn (McCafferty) Steele, age 78, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb. She was born on July 29, 1934, in Madison, the daughter of Samuel and Doris (Roper) McCafferty. Marilyn married Carl P. Steele on Feb. 25, 1956, in Madison at Westminster Church. They moved to the Town of Dunn where together they raised three children, Linda, Carl, and Timothy. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1952. Then she attended Madison Area Technical College and received her LPN certificate. She finished her career in health care at the Physicians Plus Clinic at 1 S. Park in Madison, retiring in 1997. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, singing, attending church, Bible study, caring for her pets, and helping her many friends. She treasured the time spent with her family, especially her wonderful grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Linda Steele, Carl W. Steele, and Timothy Steele; step-son, David Steele; four grandchildren, Justin Frosch, Elizabth Pirus, Shawn Steele, and Connor Steele; great-grandson, Zachery Frosch; her siblings, Rosemary (Earl) Olson and Karen (Bob) Zimny; and many special friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, with the Pastor Bob Lee presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
