Marguerite J. “Rita” Garin, age 93, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Heritage Monona Senior Living Center.
She was born on June 20, 1920, in Madison, the daughter of Fena Gjovik Clark Cleberg and Roger Clark.
Rita graduated from West High School and attended one year at the University of Wisconsin. She was an accountant at what was then called Ohio Medical Products, for many years. She loved to quilt and enjoyed giving them to friends and family as gifts. She also knitted many beautiful afghans that friends and relatives continue to enjoy. She loved to play bridge and often said that she was going to cut back. She never did.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Tranchita; her son, Tom (Julie) Garin; her grandson, Anthony (Colette) Tranchita; great-grand children, Karissa and Tyler Tranchita; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; brother; and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, with Father John Silva presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:45 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. The family requests that, instead of flowers, the memorials may be sent to AgraceHospice Care, 5395 E Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
