Mainert Henry Anderson, 91 years of Wisconsin Dells died on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.
He was born on February 2, 1922 in Rock Creek, Montana to Henry and Hazel (Grossman) Anderson.
Mainert grew up in Montana where he had worked for the CCC before moving to Wisconsin Dells in 1940 working on the farm and also worked for the railroad laying track, then he served in the United States Army from November 1942 until November 1945 as an MP in Iceland and England. Afterwards he was a truck driver for Standard Oil, Mobil Oil and later the Co-Op until his retirement. Mainert also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Leona of Wisconsin Dells, 4 children, Betty (Jerome) Smith of Madison, Mainert (Nancy) Anderson of Sun Prairie, Roger Anderson of Wisconsin Dells and Rachelle (Glenn) Albright of Columbus, 6 grandchildren, Dan, Kevin, Lori, Megan, Amanda and Ashley, 4 great grandchildren, brother Sidney Anderson of Wisconsin Dells and other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard on January 6, 2010, 2 brothers Cliff and Delbert and a sister Marion.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Newport Lutheran Church, rural Wisconsin Dells with Rev. William Grimm officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Newport Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by the Wisconsin Dells area veterans. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until 11 AM.
