Lucille B. Bateman, age 68, of Janesville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at her home. She was born in Independence, WI, on July 13, 1945, the daughter of Clements and Bernice (Smieja) Symicek. Lucille grew up in the Whitehall area before moving to LaCrosse where she married Alvin G. Bateman on Oct. 31, 1964. They moved to Janesville in 1969. She was employed by Accudyne and later at Amtek until retiring in 2010. Lucille was a member of St. William Catholic Church and enjoyed collecting dolls, crocheting and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Al; 2 daughters, Sharon (David) Bobeck of Madison and Barbara (Michael) Wright of Orlando, FL; 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Andrew, and Alexandra; a great grandson, Carson Bobeck; her mother, Bernice Symicek of Onalaska; 4 siblings: Phyllis (Tom) Tatar of Brighton, CO, Dorothy Humfeld of Hokah, MN, Jim (Carol) Symicek of French Island, WI, and Debbie Symicek of Onalaska; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Clements; son, Alvin Bateman Jr.; and a grandson, Joshua Bateman.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. John Auby officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of Mass at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. The family is being assisted by the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY.
