Loretta was born September 22, 1931 on a farm outside Wilton, Wisconsin the daughter of Everet and Mary (Gallagher) Mitchell. She moved to the big city of Baraboo, Wisconsin and she met a man who promised her diamonds as big as potatoes. They were married September 12, 1953 and Loretta received with Tom four diamonds; Angeline, Theodore, and Amber of Lake Delton and Mary of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Loretta and Tom's disparate personalities complemented each other as they raised those diamonds through the years. Loretta was countlessly praised for the very best chocolate cookies in the world. Many are those who counted themselves lucky to become her "children" to receive those cookies over the years. She was especially happy to count among that number, Abigail and Kayden who received her last batch of love, care and grace that she put into those cookies.

Loretta is survived by her four children and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Benjamin and Francis Mitchell and sisters, Marcella Finucan and Ruth Zeller.
