LeRoy Kent

LODI-LeRoy Kent passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at home.

He was born on June 2, 1942 in Dekkora Township in Poynette, the son of Edward and Kathleen (Cotter) Kent. LeRoy attended Lodi schools and was a member of St. Patrick's church. He moved to Lodi in 1949 and was a resident there for 64 years. LeRoy loved the Packers and Brewers. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, and loved to take his nephews, Rick and Joe Boyce, water skiing on the Wisconsin River. He also enjoyed playing cards, casino trips, his fun times at Ho Chunk, and country music.

LeRoy served in the U.S. Army from March 19, 1967 to 1969. He went to Fort Campbell, Ky., for training. Later, he was sent to Vietnam. Mom cried almost every day while he was over there.

LeRoy worked at Lodi Canning Factory, Arlington Canning Factory, and the Allied Casting in Waunakee from Sept. 9, 1965 to 2004. He was a grinder.

LeRoy loved to go to church dinners with his family.

He is survived by his sisters, Joan (Robert Conners) Boyce of Sun Prairie and Mary Hendrickson of Fon du Lac; nephews, Brian (Lisa) Hendrickson, Rick (Teri) Boyce of Sun Prairie, and Joe (Jeanelle) Boyce of San Antonio, Texas; niece, Lisa (Darrell) Smet; and great-nephews and nieces, Keagan, Graham, Mason, Brittany, Jeanette, Leslie, and Joe. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim; and brothers-in-law, Leslie and Henry.

Funeral services will be held at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Lodi, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
