MADISON- Lawrence “Larry” Geary, Sr., age 82, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2017.
He was born May 3, 1935, in Madison, the son Walter and Dorothy (Karow) Geary. He married Margaret Walker on March 11, 1959, and together they had three children, Roseanne, Linda and Larry.
Larry worked as a truck driver for 40 years at Madison Silo and Castrite Silo, retiring in 1987. Larry and Peggy loved traveling and spending time at their cabin in Winter, Wisc. He was a born again Christian and was a member of Assembly of God Church. Larry had a passion for stock car racing, in and around the local tracks. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting and cooking. Larry and his son, Larry, Jr., were very proud of the family house they built together on the Walker Estate and the cabin he built with his friend, Harvey.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy; his children, Linda Geary and Larry (Laurie) Jr.; grandchildren, Tasha (Elvis), Christopher (Kristy?), Gregory (Nikkie), and Lexis; 8 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Wanda and Edith; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Roseanne (Tim) Baumann; grandchildren, Tammy and Timothy; a sister, Millie; a brother, Lee (Betty); and good friend, Harvey.
The family would like to thank Dr. Pickhardt, the staff at Meriter Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare for their care of Larry.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., with the Rev. Gary Thompson presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.
