Laverne F. Heuer, age 88, of Dodgeville, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Upland Hills Health following a brief illness.
Laverne was born on April 27, 1925, in Cobb to Clarence and Amy (Butteris) Heuer. He was a 1943 graduate of Cobb High School. Laverne served in the U.S. Marines from 1947 until 1950. Laverne then farmed near Ridgeway and Dodgeville until retiring in 1984. He married the former Mary Peterson on December 19, 1963, and she preceded him in death on February 14, 1999. Laverne was a member of the Gomer-Lewis American Legion Post #97.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Laverne is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Aschliman of Ridgeway and Cathy Heuer of Sun Prairie; two step-children, Carl (Jenni) Syftestad of Verona and Carol Thurston of Lawrence, MO; two grandchildren, Shannon (Chad) Churchill and Doug (Rachel) Syftestad; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Churchill and Dylan Syftestad and his brother, Bernard Heuer of Dodgeville.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville with Pastor Rom A. Pegram officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday after 4:00 P.M. Inurnment at the Button Cemetery near Lone Rock will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upland Hills I.C.U. in recognition of the compassionate care they gave to Laverne.
