Larry Gene Bakko, age 57 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home after an extended illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Springbrook Resort (spring-brook.com) in Lake Delton, Wisconsin.

Larry was born in Miami Beach, Florida on June 10, 1955, the son of George L. Bakko and the late June M. Bakko (Webber).

Larry was employed as the Director of Information Technology at the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau for the past 13 years and had his own technology consultant company. He had a distinguished career as a Major in the Wisconsin Army National Guard before retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed helping people and was a born problem solver. Larry had many passions in his life and enjoyed volunteering with the Midwest Colorguard Circuit and the National High School Mock Trial Championship. He also was an avid scuba diver and never met a fish he didn’t like! His most important passions were his family and his many friends. We will miss his sense of humor and his beautiful smile.

Larry is survived by his children, Nathan (Jenny) Bakko (Elkhorn), Erik (Amanda Douglas) Bakko (Madison); his sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Jackson (La Crosse) and Linda Bakko (Avon Park, FL); his four grandchildren, Kaylee, Ryan, Livia and Jacob, and his special friend, Dee Runaas (Chicago).

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at UW Hospital Cancer Care Clinic and the many friends and neighbors who provided wonderful care to Larry and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Midwest Colorguard Circuit or the National High School Mock Trial Championship.
