Kristina Ellerkamp

MADISON-Kristina Gisela Ellerkamp died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.

She was born in Madison on Aug. 5, 1977. A 1995 graduate of Madison East High School, Kristina went on to UW-Madison and completed degrees in Linguistics and Biochemistry. She was currently employed as a Microbiologist for the Wisconsin State Hygiene Lab. An avid reader, she enjoyed science fiction writing especially Orson Scott Card and Isaac Asimov. She loved a good cup of coffee and enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, biking, and kayaking. A wonderful sense of humor, her broad knowledge of subjects that allowed her to contribute to a conversation on nearly any topic and a strong work ethic are strengths that define Kristina. Kristina also loved music of all kinds and during her life, played the violin in a variety of orchestras as well as singing in the Madison Children's Choir. Above all, she had a love of nature and animals. She adored her orange tabby cat with the catchy name, Cheddar Boy.

Kristina is survived by her parents, Gerhard and Peggy Ellerkamp; brother, Jason (Aleice); sisters, Caroline and Diana (Dan) and their newborn son, Nolan; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Forrest and Valera Grunert and Gerhard O. and Ellinor Ellerkamp; and her aunt, Gisela Harris-Ellerkamp.
