Kenneth V. Vondra, 87, of Belmont, died on Sunday October 16, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center, Fennimore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Philomena’s Catholic Church, Belmont. Fr. Jim Leeser will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Belmont, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, at the church.

Ken was born on December 18, 1928 in Cuba City, WI, the son of Bernard “Ben” and Hilda (Reuter) Vondra. Ken was united in marriage to M. Marcene Smith on September 29, 1956 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2013. He was a member of Hinkins Moody American Legion Post #453 in Belmont and the Knights of Columbus.
Ken enjoyed farming, fishing, euchre, collecting stamps and coins, and spending time with his sidekick, Otis. He was also interested in local history and genealogy.
Ken is survived by six children, Kristine (Greg) Fry of Fennimore; Kevin Vondra of Sandy Hook; Brian (Carolyn) Vondra of Spring Hill, KS; Mary Hultman of Baraboo; Jim (Holly) Vondra of Mineral Point; and Laura (Arty) Moyer of Galena, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Kimberly Pope, Gabriel Fry, Matthew Fry, Brad Vondra, Mike Vondra, Katie Vondra, Aaron Hardyman, Sarah Hardyman, Colby Vondra, Garrison Vondra, Olivia Hultman, Kyle Vondra, Morgan Vondra, Tyler Vondra, Abby Moyer, and Ben Moyer; nine great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Richard Hardyman of Belleville; and brother, Joe (Rita) Vondra of Brooklyn, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcene; daughter, Janet Hardyman on March 26, 2010, sisters, Burnetta Nies, Darlene Loeffelholz, and Rita Taylor; brothers, Donald and Eldon and infant brothers, David and Bernard.
