June I. Swalheim

Stoughton- June I. Swalheim, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Stoughton Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1926, the daughter of Sam and Adeline Gilbertson. On February 14, 1948 June married Harry Swalheim. Together they farmed in the Town of Cottage Grove for 28 years before his death in 1976. June enjoyed making dresses for orphans in Africa, making doll clothing and quilting. She loved to travel to visit her son in England, and with the Stoughton Weekenders. June liked working on the farm with her chickens and tobacco, and living at Greenspire apartments where she enjoyed daily coffee, playing bingo and bunco, and their many pot lucks. She was very fond of her years working for Tom and Philayne Chose at the Stoughton A&W. June also worked at Yahara Golf Course, Stuckeys, and the Motor Oasis in Monona.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Dottie), Howard (Marion), Debbie (Gary) Simonson, Laurie (Brian) Vogt, Joann (friend, Doug Hegerfeld) and Loren Swalheim; grandchildren, Dana Gjermo, Daivd Dearth, Becky Schwendinger, Kelly Marks, Sarah and Carl Swalheim, Mike and David Simonson, Jeremy and Christopher Quam, Kristen and Kayla Holtan and Kelsey Swenson; great grandchildren, Ashley Gjermo, Tyler, Alexis and Noah Schwendinger, Dawson and Dylan Dearth, Boden Simonson, Casey Quam and Baby Boy Berg. June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; and son, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at church.
