Joseph G. "Joe" Hinrichs, age 66, of Middleton, died peacefully after a long battle with Huntington's Disease on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Madison. Joe was born to George and Edna (Thew) Hinrichs on April 27, 1947 in Middleton.
After serving in Vietnam he married Betty Kersten of Black Earth on September 1, 1973.
Joe worked as a carpenter for over 20 years while later he began farming a small farm just outside Middleton. He was a devoted husband and father and loved his farm in the country. He enjoyed the little things in life like a good cup of coffee or a Friday Fish Fry. Most of all he loved to laugh.
He is preceded in death by his father George Hinrichs, mother Edna Thew, brother LaVern Hinrichs, sister Karen Dammen, and wife Betty Hinrichs.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his daughter Claire (David) Rindfleisch of Rockford IL, son Aric (Ashley Ganser) Hinrichs of Madison, and one grandson Aiden Rindfleisch who lovingly called him "Grampa". He also leaves behind 3 sisters and one brother; Roger (Pat) Hinrichs of Chetek, Harriet (Arnold) Meier of Cherry Valley, IL, Judy (Richard) Schwenn of Verona and Linda (James) Lehrmann of Racine.
Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2014 with the Reverend Roger Eigenfeld presiding. Burial will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Middleton. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
