Verona - John W. MacInnis, age 84, of Verona, died peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Middleton Village Nursing Home.

He was born on September 24, 1928, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the son of John J. and Mary A. (Turner) MacInnis. On January 26, 1949, John married Delora J. Kemp and together they raised four sons and were later divorced. John was employed in various banking positions for several years. In 1966 he purchased the Monroe Specialty Company, Inc., in Monroe, manufacturing personalized pet and medical I.D. tags, whereby he recently celebrated 47 years in business. In 1984, John and Sandy Schendel started Engraving Specialties in Madison, manufacturing blank metal nameplates for engravers, and in 1992 they relocated this business to Verona.

John is survived by Sandy Schendel, his loving partner and best friend; four sons, John K. (Judy), J. Thomas, Mark Timothy and Robert Ian (Sherrill); four grandchildren, John R., Amanda, Mark and Michael; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law June MacInnis and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oswald James and Willard, and sister-in-law, Norma.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Thom and Eleanore Strum, NP, for their excellent care and all of the staff at Middleton Village, especially the wonderful nurses and CNA’s on PersonaCare for their much appreciated care of John and support to the family. The family also wishes to thank the Agrace HospiceCare staff - Anne Wynne, Lindsay Everly, Chaplain Steve Zwettler and all the others for their excellent care of John.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, VERONA CHAPEL, 220 Enterprise Drive, with Chaplain Steve Zwettler officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
