MIDDLETON -

John M. Haugen, age 75, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Wynwood, Madison.

He was born on June 1, 1937, in a log cabin in Vermont Township, the son of Hjalmar and Evelyn (Mickelson) Haugen. John married Caroline Braun on Oct. 19, 1963. He served his country with the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1966. John worked at Ray-O-Vac until his retirement in 1999. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and target shooting. He was a lifelong member of the Black Earth Rifle League.

John is survived by his wife, Caroline; son, Paul (Chelsea) Haugen; former daughter-in-law, Kate Reinhardt; granddaughters, Mesa and Shylo; and brother, David (Joan) Haugen. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a 31 year old son, Peter Haugen, in 2000.

A Memorial Service for John will be held at VERMONT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 9886 Vermont Church Rd., Black Earth, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, with Pastor Jeff Jacobs presiding.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the Middleton Outreach Ministry and the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
