JANESVILLE--- John J. Maginot, age 82, of Janesville, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at UW Hospital, Madison.

He was born in Hammond, IN on Nov. 4, 1931, the son of John and Josephine (Hildebrand) Maginot, Sr. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

John married Joan L. Busch in St. Constance Parish, Chicago on Aug. 8, 1959. He had been employed by Westinghouse, Warner Electric Brake, Spacesavers and later owned Computer Land from 1980 to 1998. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He loved golfing, gardening, fishing, computers, and working on word puzzles.

John is survived by his wife, Joan Maginot; 4 children: Stephen Maginot of Janesville, Kathleen (Brian Clark) Maginot of Madison, Daniel (Theresa) Maginot of Janesville and Ed (Laura) Maginot of Hartland, WI; 8 grandchildren: John, Elizabeth, Phillip, Allison, Julia, Madeline, Meredith and Anders; 3 siblings: Joseph Maginot of Houston, TX, Sr. Lorraine Maginot of Louisville, KY and James (Helen) Maginot of Merrillville, IN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and numerous other siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
