John F. Laridaen, age 85, of Mauston passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013.
He was born August 31st, 1927 in Mauston, WI. John was a graduate of Mauston High School in 1945. He was united in marriage to Marie Grady on October 16, 1948. One of John’s first jobs was working at Reigards Dry Cleaners. Later, he worked for American Breeders Service as a technician for 33 years. In 1968 he opened John’s Liquor and Sporting Goods store. In 1974 he along with his wife Marie, and Gary Johnson, built and operated Castle Rock Golf Course. John was a lifelong gun collector and an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and training sporting dogs.
He is survived by his four children, son Mike (Jerri) Laridaen of Mauston, son Dennis (Terri Frey) of Elkhorn, WI, daughter Annette (Jack) Slocum of Mt Horeb, and son Jeff (Tammy) Laridaen of Mauston, and brother Dr. C.J. Laridaen. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents Louis and Vennetta, brother Vincent, and sister Kathleen.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Mauston. Friends and Relatives are invited to the Crandall Funeral Home in Mauston for visitation from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 25th. Burial will be at the Mauston Cemetery.
