Jerry J. Lahey, age 68, of New Glarus passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison. He was born on July 13, 1945 at Dubuque, IA to his parents Loras and Cecilia (Steffen) Lahey.
Jerry graduated from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, IA in 1963. Following high school he served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. On October 28, 1967 Jerry was united in marriage to Doris Kluesner at Peosta, IA.
Jerry retired from Anderson Custom Processing in Belleville after 20 years of service. He was a charter and thirty five year member of the American Legion Post #650 in Epworth, IA and member of the VFW Post #10549 in New Glarus, WI. Jerry enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gambling, softball, and RFDtv. Jerry was a baseball coach for many years and was also Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Braves fan.
Jerry is survived by his wife Doris of New Glarus, children Jeff (Mindy) Lahey of Mt. Horeb, WI, Debbie (Kirby) Kauk of Albany, WI, Jim (Ann Ziltner) Lahey of New Glarus, WI, Denise (Kurt) Adler of Mt. Horeb, WI, Jay (Sarina) Lahey of Madison, WI, and John Lahey of West Allis, WI, six granddaughters Becca, Abbi, Callie, Katelyn, Samantha, and Ryanne. He is further survived by his siblings Pat Lahey of Lamont, IA, Chuck (Sandy) Lahey of Durand, IL, Randy Lahey of Maquoketa, IA, and Jeannie Wedo of Prairie Du Chien, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Donna, and a sister Gail.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.
Relatives and friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of service on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Hospital and VA drivers for their help and compassionate care.
