Jerome "Peppi" Adler

ASHTON-Jerome "Peppi" Adler, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 9, 1919 in the town of Springfield, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Ziegler) Adler. Jerome was the first in the area to be drafted. Jerome proudly served his country in the US Army from January 1942 thru May 1945 during World War II. He served as a medic on the front lines in Germany, France and at D Day. Jerome was united in marriage to Mary Ann Acker on November 26, 1946 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ashton. Together they took over the family farm where they raised their family. Jerome took great pride in farming and was named the "Farmer of the Year" in 1952. He had a variety of interests including baseball, bowling and cards but truly enjoyed horseshoes where he played to win.

Jerome is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ann; their children, Dan (Pat) Adler, Linda (Bob) Ziegler, Jane (Gary) Itten, Butch (Cookie) Adler, Marie Adler, David (Kim) Adler, Mary (Bruce) Heise and Tom Adler; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister Viola Blum; a sister-in-law, Eileen Adler and a brother-in-law, John Holtz. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Mark and Jerome "Jerry" Adler; his brothers, Gerald, Edward, Walter, and Allie, sisters, Sr. Loretta, Amy, and Rita; a son-in-law, Terry Carnes; and a special family friend Celeste Laufenberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7129 County Road K, Middleton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Cross Plains American Legion Post No. 245. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
