Madison – Jerome P. “Jerry” Legried, age 52, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at his home.

He was born on March 22, 1962 in Madison, the son of LaVerne and Valeria (Schulz) Legried. Jerry graduated from Madison East High School in 1980. After high school he graduated from Madison Area Technical College with a degree in marketing. Jerry began working for the city of Madison in 1990.

He worked in various departments, most recently as the Operations Supervisor at Forest Hill Cemetery. Jerry was an extremely hard worker who always provided for his family, which included working several independent contracting jobs. He was united in marriage to Shelley Bauer on June 8, 1991 and together they were blessed with three lovely daughters. Jerry was known for his easy going and fun loving nature.

He loved sports, especially football and the Wisconsin Badgers. Even more than that, he loved his three beautiful girls and being able to coach them in softball, as well as various other sports. Being a dad was his greatest accomplishment in life and he was extremely proud of them all.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley; his three daughters, McKenna, Ashlen and Kadence; sisters, Sheila Legried of Montana and Mary Benson of New Zealand; brother, Jim Legried; and nephew, Gabe Tousignant, both of Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valeria and LaVerne.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., with Rev. Craig Robertson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 11:00 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery, DeForest.
