Jeff was born May 23rd 1952, the son of Ray and Donna Braun and was a lifelong resident of Lake Delton. He attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville, where he met his future wife Janice (Lindloff) of Reedsburg. They married on September 20th 1975. After achieving his bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Jeff started his career as a deputy Sheriff with the Sauk County Sheriff's Department. He was the first deputy with a bachelor's degree to work for the Sauk County Sheriff's Department. After four years of working 2nd shift and with his family in mind, he chose to resign from the department and worked for 12 years at Big Joe. With inspiration from his mother and father, and while working full time, he and Janice started and operated Weathered Barn Antiques, and ran Braun's Happy Landing Motel. Through the years Jeff's hard work and amazing entrepreneurial abilities have made for an entertaining lifestyle. As one business venture started to slow, he quickly moved on to the next. Much of Jeff's business success can be attributed to his core values of fairness, integrity, and honesty.
Following in his father's interests he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He spent many spring days cleaning out flower beds and replanting annuals. Jeff was good at everything he did, and the more competitive or difficult the event, the more he excelled at it. Jeff's creative and artistic abilities will be celebrated and enjoyed for many years in the form of refinished antiques, photography and wheel thrown pottery that he both sold and made for members of his family. Jeff has inspired many similar interests, activities, and talents on to both his son and daughter. Jeff's personality would never allow him to fully retire, because working and the quick turn-around sale is what energized him. Even though Jeff worked hard his whole life, his devotion to his wife and family was the most important beginning and end to everyday. Almost every morning he would hand deliver the mail to his mother and his evenings usually included cooking dinner for his family. No greater pride did Jeff have than raising his two children, instilling his work ethic, and seeing their success in life. During the past 10 years Jeff and Janice were able to reduce the shop hours and enjoyed many weekend retreats around the tri-state area. Jeff and Janice loved to share these mini vacations with family and friends. Jeff was respected, loved, and will be missed by family, friends, long time customers, and clients.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Ray Braun. He is survived by his mother, Donna; loving wife and soul-mate, Janice; children, Katie (Matt) Hansen, Tom (Valerie) Braun; grandchildren, Reese and Riley Hansen; sister, Julie (Jon) Platz; nephews, Jonathan (Kim, Savannah, and Campbell) Platz and Jeremy (Crystal) Platz.
