Jean M. Wallis, 86, of Dubuque, IA passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23rd at Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Jean was born on March 25, 1930 to Edward & Lena (Jenni) Koch in Dubuque, IA. She was a graduate of Senior High School in Dubuque, IA. She married Lester Wallis on May 23, 1956 in Dubuque, IA. Jean worked as a secretary at A.Y. McDonald and later at Torbert Drug Store. She enjoyed crosswords, playing cards, embroidering, soap opera “As the World Turns” and spending time with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by three sons: Paul L. Wallis of Kingsport, TN, David (Deborah) E. Wallis and Thomas J. Wallis both of Dubuque, IA; 4 granddaughters: Dana (Jason) Flogel of West Des Moines, IA, Sarah (Jason) Heitkamp of East Dubuque, IL, Meghan (fiancée Josh Middleton) Wallis of West Des Moines, IA and Bobbi Jo (Jay) Ley of Cassville, WI; a grandson: Jonathan Wallis of Kingsport, TN; 8 great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester (December 23, 2010), 3 brothers and 9 sisters.
In lieu of flowers a Jean M. Wallis Memorial Fund has been established.
