MADISON- Jean M. Kramer, age 88, passed away after a long illness at home surrounded by her family on September 14, 2016.

She was born in Elroy on August 26, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Kamke) Holtz. She married her high school sweetheart, Justin, on December 5, 1945, and they enjoyed 70 wonderful years together.

Jean fulfilled her dream of getting married, staying home to raise children and be a homemaker. She loved cooking, baking and sewing for her family. Her hobbies included counted cross-stitch, reading, building jigsaw puzzles and playing Scrabble with her daughters. The family spent summers boating and swimming in the family pool. Once the kids were grown, Jean and Justin began traveling and had the opportunity to see much of the world.

She is survived by her husband, Justin; her children, James W. Kramer, Jill (Joe) Pellizzari, and Janis Murray; her grandchildren, Jim (Chris) Kramer, Calvin Kramer, Joshua (Kelly) Kramer, Tammy (Rich) Knudtson, and Jason Murray; her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nicole Knudtson, Alex and Jace Kramer, and Eli and Jadon Kramer; her brother, Carroll (Eunice) Holtz; and her twin brother, John (Barbara) Holtz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marcella Koenecke.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the staff at Brookdale North, for their love, care and support of Jean.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sherman Avenue United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at SHERMAN AVENUE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3705 N. Sherman Ave. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
