James T. Schneller Sr.
James T. Schneller, Sr., 79, of Platteville, died on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison.
James was born on August 14, 1934 in Montello, WI, the son of John and Gladys (Sheils) Schneller.
He was united in marriage to Rose M. Schmidt on March 10, 1956 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, WI.
She preceded him in death on October 3, 1981.
Jim graduated from UW-Platteville and was an educator for almost twenty years. He was an English and History teacher and later became principal at Potosi, Cuba City and Cassville Elementary Schools. Jim gave up his career in education to pursue his passion of antiquing which he has done for over 40 years. His knowledge of antiques was very extensive and he especially enjoyed antique glass ware. He managed Antiques Unlimited in Cuba City for many years. He enjoyed his travels and getting to know people and about themselves.
He is survived by his children, James T. (Karen) Schneller, Jr. of Platteville, WI; Tara R. (David) Wright of Indianapolis, IN; Brett R. (Athena Nyers) Schneller of Lima, OH; Corey M. (Emily) Schneller of Cedar Rapids, IA; Heidi G. (Marco) Mena of Indianapolis, IN; daughter-in-law, Cindy Schneller of Platteville, WI; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and best friend and partner for over thirty years, Carrie Ruttman of Platteville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lonnie on April 6, 2007 and grandson, Hudson Schneller on August 27, 2005.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Community Evangelical Free Church, Platteville, WI. Robert Bennett and Pastor Eric Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville.
Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
