JANESVILLE--- James M. Mesler, age 62, of Janesville, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.
He was born in Janesville on Feb. 13, 1952, the son of William and Marjorie (Williams) Mesler and was a 1971 graduate of Edgerton High School. Jim enlisted in the US Army following graduation and served from 1972-1980. He had also enlisted in the National Guard from 1979-1982 and 1992-2012. He married Colleen (Pfeiffer) Sellers on Sept. 7, 2007. Jim was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edgerton and also a member of VFW Post 1621 and Knights of Columbus #6509. He enjoyed studying History.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen of Janesville; 2 brothers, John Mesler of Janesville, and Joseph (June) Mesler of Edgerton; 2 nephews, Benjamin and Johnathan Mesler both of Edgerton; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville, where a prayer service and full military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
