MADISON-James Lee Knapp, age 69, of Madison, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, after 25 years of battling cancer.
Jim was born on May 3, 1945 to James and Charlotte Knapp. He graduated in 1963 from Monona Grove High School. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army in both Korea and Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Sharon Brown on April 29, 1967. He worked at Oscar Meyer, and retired after 30 years. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse shoes, camping, and anything that involved family. He loved to play cards with his family and friends and had a great loyalty to the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon; four children, Robert, Tammy, Bill and Brad; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his mom, Char Knapp; sisters, Carol and Becky; brother, Greg (Connie) and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, James Sr.; son, Brad on Feb. 5, 2009; and sister, Sue.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding. Burial with Military Rites will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014.
