MADISON/Irving Handelsman, 96, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016.
Irv was born in New York City on April 2, 1920 to the late Henry and Sadie (Abrams) Handelsman.
He served in WW II in the US Navy Coast Guard, received a bachelor's degree from City College and a doctorate from Columbia University. After working at the Veteran's Administration, Irv was a psychoanalyst in New York for fifty years. He moved to Madison in 1998 with his wife, Blossom, who predeceased him in 2001.
Irv is survived by his loving companion, Royce Dembo; three daughters; two sons-in-law; and four grandchildren.
A private burial was held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
