Irene Alice Rusch, 85, of Fort Atkinson, reached her final home in heaven on Monday, March 24, 2014.

Irene was born in Fort Atkinson, WI on August 7, 1928 to Ernest and Martha Willitz.

Irene married Robert Henry Rusch on April 12, 1947. Rusch’s Dairy Farm on Hwy N in Fort Atkinson was their farm and home.

She was a long time member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson where she was a member of Ladies Aid. She was a wonderful Christian mother. She loved living on the farm and being a farmer’s wife. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed making cookies and apple desserts for her family. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her 3 children; Dennis (Janis) Rusch, Fort Atkinson, Roger (Celia) Rusch, Verona, WI and Marilyn (Steven) Borchardt, Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Jill (Adam) Draeger, Benjamin (Jessica) Rusch, Paul, Martha, and Ellen Rusch (David Rippl), Nathan (Trisha) Borchardt, Adam Borchardt (Rebekah Sweet); great grandchildren, Lexie Steinke and Carlie Rusch, Seth and Drew Draeger, Brooke, Brady, Blake and Beckett Borchardt; sister, Glady Scherwitz; sister-in-law, Edna (Bill) Foelker and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 5 sisters and 5 sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with Pastors Michael Duncan and Paul Scharrer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. on Friday at the church until time of service. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Alden Estates especially the nurses and activities ladies in the 200 wing for their wonderful care. Also thank you to Rainbow Hospice for the kind words, and keeping our mother comfortable in her last days.
