Ila Jean Selleck

Ila Jean Selleck, age 81, of Dodgeville, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.  She was born on July 21, 1936 in Gratiot Township, the younger daughter of Louis and Gladys (Hanson) Seffrood. Ila Jean attended rural country schools and graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1955.  She met the love of her life Rodger Selleck and they were united in marriage on June 15, 1957 at the West Wiota Lutheran Church. She and Rodger were blessed with two children, Veronica and Mark.  Ila and Rodger dairy farmed for many years until they sold their farm in 1988 and bought a country home near Mineral Point.  She was employed at Lands’ End for fifteen years before retiring.  Her favorite hobby was making quilts and giving them to loved ones and friends.  She and Rodger sold their country home in May of 2014 and moved into Stonefield Retirement Apartments in Dodgeville.  Ila Jean and Rodger greatly enjoyed traveling in all fifty states and foreign countries in Europe.  A favorite time was sharing daily devotions and prayer with her husband and she was an avid bible reader.  She loved mixing with her special friends at Stonefield.  Spending time in the “Word” of God every day is where her faith and comfort came from along with worshiping Sunday morning in God’s House.

Ila Jean is survived by her cherished husband, Rodger of Dodgeville; her son, Mark (Lorna) of Madison; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Sargent of Shullsburg as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Gladys Seffrood and her daughter, Veronica Brogley on September 18, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Droste officiating.  A luncheon will then be served at the church followed by burial in the West Wiota Cemetery near South Wayne.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Dodgeville United Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated.
