JANESVILLE - Homer V. "Doc" Brodie Jr., age 84, of Janesville, died on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Eau Claire on October 29, 1928, the son of Homer V. and Lorena (Forcier) Brodie. He was a 1948 graduate of Janesville High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, and attended Milton College. Doc married Patricia Stearns on November 10, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Janesville.
He worked for General Motors as an accountant for 35.5 years until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of St. Williams Catholic Church where he also served as head usher. Doc was also a member of the American Legion, Parker High School Athletic Board, coached area little league, was a certified WIAA Basketball Referee, Wisconsin Basketball Booster Club, supported the Green Beret Marching Band and was a financial contributor to the University of Wisconsin and Janesville Area Athletics.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of 62 years; 4 daughters: Pattie Peterson of Menomonee Falls, Linda (Gary) Moen of Fort Atkinson, Kim Dexter of Apache Junction, AZ and Jackie (Todd) Kjornes of Janesville; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; Richard (Vicky) Brodie of Janesville, John Brodie of Thiensville and Daniel (Patti) Brodie of Cherokee Village, AK; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Brodie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Janesville. A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church.
