Hazel “Tootie” Janet (Reynolds) Hall, age 80, of Westby, died Friday April 11, 2014 at her home after a brief and courageous journey with cancer.

Tootie was born on January 23, 1934, in Centralia, Washington, to the late Homer Reynolds and Carrie (Guier) Reynolds Mitchell. She was the descendant of Oregon Trail pioneers. She grew up in Centralia and was proud of her Washington and Oregon roots. She was the youngest of four children.

Tootie graduated from Centralia High School in 1952. She attended Centralia College, but before she could graduate, the College closed.

She married Herman “Vice” Hall, Jr. in 1957. They lived in Renton and Tacoma, Washington, and in 1971 moved to Westby, Wisconsin, where Jr. was from. They divorced in 1978. Tootie continued to make her home in Westby. She worked at Borgen’s Café and Norseland Nursing Home.

Tootie was her grandsons’ greatest fan attending their every baseball, basketball and football games that she could (to many to count). She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crochet, word puzzels, bingo, and made the best jams, jellies and pies (apple and blackberry were favorites). She loved to listen to country music.

When she was young, she loved to go dancing. One of her favorite places to visit was the beach at Ocean Shores, Washington. Two other favorite places to be with her family was going “to the farm” in Brush Hollow near Avalanche, Wisconsin, where she loved to pick blackberries, and to the Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota, Minnesota to watch the 4H Dairy and Hog shows.

Tootie is survived by her two children, daughter Linda (John) Irrthum of Wanamingo, MN; and son Ron (Marsha) Hall of Westby, WI; her 3 grandsons, Zac Hall, Marcus and Clint Irrthum; and nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her siblings and their spouses, sisters Helen (Ted) Goebel and Harriet (Si) Messenger; brother Don (Berniece) Reyonlds; a nephew Dennis; a niece Kathi; and her stepfather George “Ed” Mitchell.
