Harland W. Heus

MADISON-Harland W. (Harley) Heus, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Sylvan Crossings in Fitchburg, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 22, 1925, in Sheboygan, the son of Alphons and Meta (Schneider) Heus. Harley was united in marriage to Rosemary M. Euhl on August 23, 1947 in Sheboygan. He was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country during World War II. Harley was proud to say that he worked for Wisconsin Bell-SBC/AT&T for 39 years retiring in 1986 and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers. After his retirement, Harley shared his smile and good nature as a "Walmart greeter" at stores in Watertown and Madison. He loved reading and learning about history, he enjoyed the opportunity to be outdoors walking, golfing, and meeting people. In whatever he was doing, Harley never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his children, Nancy (Ray) Mowrey, Wayne (Cindy) Heus, Mary (Larry) Reinen, Jan (Steve) Frei , and Michelle Heus. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other special relatives. Harley was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bob and sister-in-law, Dorothy.

A Memorial service to celebrate Harley's life will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave, Middleton at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 12, 2014 with the Reverend Craig Mowrey and the Reverend Brian Mowrey presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
