Gordon C. Janney, DVM, age 87, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at home. He was born in Gary, Indiana to the late Lea and Erma (Wilson) Janney. Gordon served in World War II in the US Navy.Upon discharge, he attended Purdue University for pre-veterinary courses, and then received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University. He worked for Dr. D.E. Murphy in Prairie du Sac for 3 years before joining USDA animal health division, working in various positions in Wisconsin, Maryland, and Iowa. He received a Masters degree from UW-Madison and served as an Instructor in the Veterinary Science department at UW-Madison. He was united in marriage to Carol Mae Meng in 1963 and has two children, Michael Janney and Mary Jo (Duane) Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Donald.
He is survived by his wife, children, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Gordon loved his farm, working in the garden, the orchard and the woods, making maple syrup, horseradish and apple juice, and sharing all his efforts with friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, WI on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doris Simpson officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
