Fern M. Bockhop, 89, of Platteville formerly of Belmont, Wisconsin died on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Platteville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. Rev. Connie Matye will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.

Fern was born on January 20, 1927 in Mifflin Township, Iowa County daughter to Walter and Emma (Mueller) Knebel. When she was seven years old the family moved to a farm near Elk Grove, Wisconsin. She attended West School and the Belmont High School where she graduated in 1945.
Fern was united in marriage to Carl E. Bockhop on January 24, 1948. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2008. Two children were born to this union, Connie and Bill Bockhop. She and Carl farmed northeast of Belmont for 24 years. After retiring from farming they moved to their home in Belmont in 1972. They always found time to travel taking Connie and Bill along when they were young. Later they spent many winters in Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Fern and Carl also enjoyed many summers reuniting with Carl’s Army buddies over the years. Fern and Carl were glad to have so many good memories together throughout their marriage.
Fern is survived by her son, Bill (Marcia) Bockhop of Parker, CO; six grandchildren, Candace Bisarek Faull of Linden, WI; Curt (Linda) Bisarek of Hillsboro, WI; Scott (Nicole) Bockhop of Elkhorn, WI; Heather Bockhop of Madison, WI; Holly (Jon) Berry of Onalaska, WI; Kipp (Mandy) Bockhop of Parker, CO; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Isaac Faull, Alex Poppel, Drew and Kyra Bisarek, Kayla Bockhop, Nathan and Madyson Bockhop, Noah and Logan Hoeper, Hunter Bockhop, Elise Berry, Dylann and Lexton Bockhop; sister-in-law, Marie Ruskell of Belmont. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Connie in 1995, parents, and four brothers, LaVern, Clarence, Melvin and Milton Knebel.
