Evelyn was born on March 19, 1928, in Jamestown Township, Grant County, the daughter of August J. and Josephine M. (Welter) Digman. She was united in marriage to John M. Lange on August 5, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler. Devoting her life to God, her family and others, she spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, homemaker, and friend, who always put others needs before her own and always found time for others.
Evelyn was a humble hero throughout her life as she served others her entire life. From volunteering at church and school when her children were young to making countless meals, phone calls and visits to those in need along with making quilts and thousands of rosaries through church. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville and was a part of St. Mary's CCW, Altar Society and Vocation Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed music, baking (especially her famous Grandpa bars), making rosaries and most especially babysitting her grandchildren as she welcomed everyone into her home.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 59 years, John; eight children, Richard (Patty) Lange of Platteville; Gary Lange (R. Van Dyke) of Rancho Mirage, CA; Joe (Sandy) Lange of Deerfield, WI; Mary Jane (Kevin) Colopy of Zanesville, OH; Ann (Larry) Miesen of Cuba City, WI; Pat (Dave) Melzer of Elk Grove Village, IL; Joan (Randy) Check of Reedsburg, WI; Cathy (Herb) Yanke of Prairie du Sac, WI; twenty grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Lindner of Cashton, WI; sisters- and brother-in-law, Berneita Digman of Hazel Green, WI; Leona Digman of Lancaster, WI; Eddie and Mary Lange of Dickeyville, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marcie Dietzel, and two brothers, Lavern and Edwin Digman.
Evelyn touched many hearts and will be forever missed, but as she requested "miss me a little, but not too much and don't be sad". We love you Mom and are glad we were here these last days to send you with love on your journey to heaven with stories, songs, laughter, tears, and wonderful memories. The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals and staff over the years for the wonderful care for Evelyn.
