Eugene Paul Deegan

Eugene P. Deegan age 86 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (590 So. Saint Joseph's Circle) in Edgerton, Wisconsin with Father David Timmerman celebrating. Family and Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 A.M.

Eugene was born on August 21, 1927 in Janesville, Wisconsin, son of the late William and Madeline (Kelly) Deegan. He was united in marriage to Wilma Webb on March 14, 1947 in Stoughton, WI. Eugene and Wilma had four daughters. On May 1, 1982 Eugene married Dolores (Silbaugh) Seamonson in Friendship, Wisconsin.

For most of his adult life he was self-employed, owning two Taverns, one in Stoughton and DJ's in Madison. He was in the refrigeration industry in sales and installation of commercial equipment for 44 years, "Deegan's Refrigeration". He enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it be spending time with his grandchildren and family or having a drink at the local Tavern. He loved to dance and had his daughters on the dance floor at all the family weddings. He and Dolores loved dropping a few dollars at the Casino. He would frequent auctions, loved tinkering with his vehicles, hunting and working around the homestead. He was an active member of the VFW Post #6003 of Oxford, WI where he was a past Post Commander. Eugene was a Seaman 2/C in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Bunker Hill from 1944 through 1946 in the Pacific during World War II. The USS Bunker Hill was Awarded Presidential Unit Citation and Eleven Battle Stars for Action in the Pacific.

Eugene is survived by his four daughters, Madelyn Mike) Doyle, Georgia (Larry) Ward-Hoover, Nancy Czubin-Gurney and Vivian (Bill) Schmelzer; grandchildren, Angela Ward, Brian Doyle, Todd (Ranee) Toycen, Jason Schmelzer, Eric (Teri) Ward, Jacquelyn (Adam) Smith and Nicole (Darnell) Phillips; great-grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Chelsey (Meechie Jones) Anderson, Jada Ward, Remy Smith, Shea Doyle, Riley Schmelzer, Hayden Sarnich, Benn Toycen, Maddux Phillips, Jack Toycen and Aleah Phillips; great-great grandson, Trayvion Anderson-Jones; great grandchildren, Alexis Whalen and Katlyn (Zach Minton) Smith and their son, William; brothers; John (Phyllis), Bob (Liz), Dick (Charlene); sisters, Joyce Ann Vale and Mickie (Fred) Purnell; sister in law, Marie Deegan; close cousin, Donna Deegan; the Seamonson Family and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dolores; brothers, William Jr., Joseph and Donald (Kate); sister, Mary Jane (Elgin) Fay; cousin, Jerry Deegan; brother in law, Norm Vale; son in laws, Frank Ward and Gary Czubin and 2 infant sons at birth.
