Eugene E. 'Sully' Sullivan
Barneveld – Eugene Edward Sullivan “Sully”, age 71, of Barneveld, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away after a courageous battle against cancer on Sunday September 1, 2013 at Agrace Hospice Care.
Gene was born on May 7th, 1942, in Dodgeville to Edward and Darlene Sullivan. Gene graduated from Ridgeway Union High School in 1960. Gene married Faye Budd, of Barneveld, on July 28, 1961, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church Ridgeway.
Sully was an accomplished athlete and avid golfer, he enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, spending time with family and friends, the company of his grandchildren, and watching them at their sporting events. Gene was a self-employed carpenter until joining the Carpenter's Local 314 on March 16, 1981.
Gene is survived by his wife, Faye of Barneveld; his children; Tim (Nancy) Sullivan of Barneveld, Mark Sullivan of Merrimac, Bill (Laura) Sullivan of Barneveld, Sue (Rick) Nolden of Belleville, Bobby (Dawn) Sullivan of Dodgeville and Shawn (Jodi) Sullivan of Barneveld; fifteen grandchildren, Travis (Kristie) Sullivan, Elizabeth (Cody) Mussehl, Tyler (Jessi) Sullivan, Christopher Sullivan, Logan Sullivan, Danny Sullivan, Trent Sullivan, Corey Nolden, Courtney Sullivan, Tanner Sullivan, Colton Sullivan, Cole Sullivan, Seth & Spencer Sullivan, and Isabella Sullivan; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Melanie, Bradley Sullivan, and Carter Mussehl; his brothers and sisters, Terry (Karen) Johnson, Anita (Ken) Reese, Barb (Daryl Tresner) Evans, Kris (Paul) Hirsch, Jackie (Gary) Caygill, Jim (Toni) Johnson, Jerry (Sheri) Johnson, Stephanie (Pat) Forsyth, and Katie (Bob) Olson.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; Edward Sullivan, Darlene (Sullivan) Johnson and step-father Chester Johnson, his sister; Debbie DeVoss, his grandparents, Gene and Ruth Dougherty, his mother-in-law, Mabel Budd, his great-granddaughter, Kinley Mussehl, and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at BARNEVELD LUTHERAN CHURCH. Pastor Jack Way will officiate.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at BARNEVELD LUTHERAN CHURCH.
