MADISON- Ernest “Ernie” Hill, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
He was born on July 18, 1948, in Comer, Ga., the son of Ernest & Lucille Hill. He was united in marriage to Marcia Fauerbach Hill. Ernie was a longtime resident of Madison.
He was employed with the State of Wisconsin as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor at Mendota Mental Health Facility. He served his country with the U.S. Army with the infantry in Germany. In his spare time he was an avid golfer, Chicago Bears, Bulls and White Sox fan and enjoyed playing cards. But he got his greatest enjoyment out of spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his step-daughters, Rebecca (Clark) Dorn and her husband Michael and Vanessa (Clark) Wodzinski and her husband, Kristopher; his step-grandchildren, Taylor and Brady Dorn and Aleksander and Markus Wodzinski; Marcia Fauerbach Hill; his cousin, Larry M. Arnold, Sr. and family; and numerous friends also mourn his passing. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucille Hill, Sr.
A memorial service with military rites will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. Burial will be held in Holly Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Comer, Ga. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
