MONONA-Ellen A. Rosten, age 95, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Oak Park Place.

She was born on May 8, 1917, in Oklahoma. Ellen married Phillip Rosten on April 5, 1941. She loved golf and was president of the Women’s Nakoma Golf Club. Ellen also was a member of Eastside Women’s Club and Bethany Evangelical Free Church. She also enjoyed knitting, crewel work, taking country drives, and travelling.

She is survived by her children, Philip Rosten Jr. and Barbara Scanio; three grandchildren, Karin (John) Hanus, Amanda (Travis) Dye, and Alan (Heidi) Scanio; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Aimee, Aleczandria, Abigael, Jaymes, Allison, David, and Cynthia Jean. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Jane Rosten; great-grandson, John Hanus Jr.; sister, Willie; brother, Robert; and sister, Friedabeth.

Funeral services will be held at BETHANY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, with the Rev. David E. Carlson presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Evangelical Free Church.

Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
