MONONA-Elizabeth T. “Liz” (Farrell) Nicholson, age 67, of Monona, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1946, in Madison, the daughter of William and Margaret Farrell. She married Jim Nicholson on Aug. 16, 1969, in Madison. Elizabeth attended St. Patricks’s grade school, and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1964. She worked for Gunkel, Morton & Assoc. where she met the love of her life. After raising her children she then went on to work as an Administrative Assistant for Dejope Gaming and retired as the Receptionist for the City of Monona in January, 2013. Liz enjoyed boating, skiing and living on Lake Monona. Liz’s passion was her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Mary Madsen of Carver Minn., Jill (Steve) Sonntag of New Glarus, Jay (Hope) Nicholson of Mt. Vernon, Tom (Marcia) Nicholson of Appleton, and Tim (Marcy) Nicholson of Verona; grandchildren, Elle, Courtney, Carter, Nicholas and Addison; siblings, Brady (Jane) Farrell of Bonanza Colo., Mary (Mike) Gallagher of Cross Plains, and Jake (Mary) Farrell of Long Lake, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Sandy Farrell Roth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother William Farrell Jr.; and most recently, a nephew, Patrick Farrell.
A private Funeral Service will be held. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to San Damiano Friary or Agrace HospiceCare.
