Elizabeth 'Betty' Venhuizen

Elizabeth ‘Betty' Venhuizen, 92, of Muscoda died Friday, November 29, 2013 at the University Hospital in Madison as the result of an automobile accident.

She was born May 15, 1921 in Mora, Minnesota the daughter of John B and Christine (Wilkens) Vandermyde. On November 14, 1942 Betty married Fred ‘Fritz' Venhuizen in Minneapolis. Betty and Fritz farmed together for many years in Illinois and Wisconsin. Betty enjoyed the outdoors especially bird watching, gardening, and watching the flowers grow. She was a member of the Blue River Valley Church and was devoted in her Bible readings. Betty loved every moment she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by three sons: Roger (Gail) Venhuizen of Muscoda, David (Barbara) Venhuizen of Austin, Texas, Steven (Jeannine) Venhuizen of Polo, Illinois; Five granddaughters: Jennifer, Jodi, Jeanna, Erica, Katrina; Seven great-grandchildren; Brother and sisters: John W (Darlene) Vandermyde of Minneapolis, Janice (Bob) DeVries of Fridley, Minnesota, Mary (Ollie) Fredricks of Anoka, Minnesota; Brothers-in-law: Don St. Germain of Maple Wood, Minnesota, DuWayne Vos of Mount Carroll, Illinois, John Hamstra of Sterling, Illinois; Sisters-in-law: Marjorie Venhuizen, Phyllis Venhuizen of Morrison, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fritz, son Ronald, two sisters Sharon St. Germain and Christine Vos.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Blue River Valley Church with Pastor Paul Fries officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Blue River Valley Church on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.

The family has established a memorial in Betty's name for the Missions.

The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
