Elizabeth “Bette” Kupp, age 85, passed away peacefully at Meriter Hospital on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 3, 1928, in La Crosse to Edward and Rose Brown. Bette was united in marriage to Roy Kupp in June of 1947. They were married for 61 years until Roy’s death in December 2008.

Bette was employed by Oscar Mayer in the cost accounting department, retiring after 29 years. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling, casino trips, and spending time with her family.

Bette is survived by her sister, Rose Shuda of LaCrosse; her three children, Connie (Duane) Ophime, Rick (Jean) and Char Johnson; six grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, David and Roy Ophime, Howard (Rhonda) Johnson and Kristi (Andreas) Bleickardt; four great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved dog, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother and brother-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, with Monsignor Raymond Kretz presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Inurnment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens with a luncheon to follow at the church.

The family wishes to thank her primary care doctor, Dr. Laurie Kuhn, and pulmonary care doctors, Charles Weber and John McCartney, along with the staff in the IMCU at Meriter Hospital and Peg Weber and Father Michael of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cottage Grove.
