MADISON/STOUGHTON- Edith Mae "Edie" Plummer, age 81, died on March 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1932, in Burnt Cabins, Pa., to Harry and Dessie (Clymans) Locke. Edie graduated from Orbisonia High School in 1950, and later took classes at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She worked for thirty years as an educational assistant in elementary schools in the Stoughton school system. Edie also worked as a certified nursing assistant at Nygaard Nursing Home and Skaalen Nursing Home, both in Stoughton.
She was formerly married to Arthur Martin with whom she had four children. Edie married Robert Plummer on April 28, 1979. Bob and Edie lived in the Madison/Stoughton area for most of their lives with a brief but lovely stint in Englewood, Fla.
Edie is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Jeff (Debbi) Martin, Linda (Cliff Danke) Martin, Gina Martin, and Carol (John) Otterson; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Tarner and Edna Keller of Chambersburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy 51, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations are made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center in memory of Edie and the wonderful life she lived.
The family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ed Kramper and the staff at UW Health, Cottage Grove and Dr. Ryan Mattison and the staff at the UW Carbone Cancer Center for their excellent, compassionate care given to Edie.
