MADISON-Edith M.”Edie” Dixon, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 16, 2014.
Edie was born on December 26, 1951, in Morristown, NJ, the daughter of Warren and Jessie Dixon. She grew up in Verona, NJ, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The George Washington University in 1974 and received her Master of Library Sciences degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1977. Edie moved to Madison and began working at the Memorial Library in 1987, where she was a senior academic librarian with the library technology group at the Memorial Library, University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was very dedicated to her work and deeply valued her coworkers.
Outside of work Edie loved any and all dogs, especially her Irish Wolfhounds, Rhonda, Grady and Claire. When not working, Edie was an avid recreational reader with a special love for murder mysteries and science fiction novels featuring female protagonists.
Edie is survived by her partner, Joan Ward and her siblings, Susan Sample, Martha Rekrut, Leslie (Larry) Cook and David (Daryl) Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Edie’s Life will be held at the At&T Lounge of the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2014. For online condolences please visit, www.gundersonfh.com.

Edie very much mattered in her own quiet way. She will be deeply missed.
