MADISON – Earl L. Brassington, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Karmenta Center.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1924, in Milwaukee, the son of Earl B. and Lorraine (Brumm) Brassington. Earl married Lillian F. Laack on June 29, 1946, in Mauston. Earl enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife. He was a fisherman and hunter and enjoyed watching baseball and softball. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and WWII as a Radioman. He worked as a supervisor at Oscar Meyer & Co. and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church as well as an active member of The Masons.
Earl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lillian; two daughters, Barbara (Dean) Sumwalt of Richland Center and Diane (Rollie) Woolever of Apache Junction, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Gary (Alisenne) Sumwalt, Connie (Robert) Thomas, Lynn (Dennis) Telleen, Cindy (Daniel) Baitsell and Kristi (Michael) Norris; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, William, Gracie, Wyatt, Gunner, Hailey, Harley, Hunter and Heath. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Daniel Brassington.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. Burial will be held at Middleton Junction Cemetery, Middleton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
